The Untamed Urban | 2016

Recurring themes in my artistic practice are the observation and exploration of the patterns underlying the fabric of our rational and emotional world – their perception, interconnections, and underlying structures.

Working across photography, video, and sculpture, I seek to make fleeting moments tangible and invite a contemplative engagement with everyday phenomena and processes. By isolating and highlighting individual elements, I offer new perspectives on the whole and its interrelations. Humanity is viewed as part of a complex system in which the interconnectedness of all things plays a central role. Humorous approaches often serve to reveal and communicate the workings of these relationships in an accessible way.

My sculptural works are crafted by hand, primarily using metal and wood. Often shaped by organic forms, they convey a sense of inner motion and dynamic presence. Drawing in space through voids and negative space creates a feeling of lightness and imbues the works with a playful, poetic quality. Site-specific challenges inspire me to weave the layered character of each location into my work, fostering a dialogue between the piece and its surroundings.
